I'll overwhelm 'legitimate boxer' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-round contest which will be broadcast in real-time on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "dominate completely" the American and "defeat" his opponent as the two fighters met personally to build hype for next month's boxing match.

Former two time world boxing king Anthony Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth mismatch - at Miami's venue on December 19th.

Fighter's Attitude

"I plan to injure his face and hurt his body. I'm here to prove I'm superior," Joshua, 35, declared.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I'm going to really want to hurt him. That's what I want to do."

Civil Exchange

Despite such comments, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - typically recognized for his theatrics - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul instead criticized former Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and called him "not serious" after Ngannou turned down a fight offer.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, at the same time, criticized British opponent Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a victory for Paul.

"[Paul] is better than Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua stated.

"I respect him for that."

Serious Opponent

In spite of saying he intends to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua refused to speak negatively about his rival's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he said.

Jake Paul's Background

Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mainly boxed MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since turning professional.

He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Success

Nevertheless, the relative newcomer continues to be one of the sport's biggest financial successes, regularly earning huge earnings.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28 year old forecast a knockout win in the fourth or fifth round and asserted he would stop the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently in the works for 2026.

"It's going to be my match with Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul declared.

Size Difference

As both boxers participated in the traditional stare-down, with their height and weight contrast evident, it emphasized just how surprising this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the bout is really happening.
